Common Roza Kholne Ki Dua

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ

Transliteration: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika amantu wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu.

Meaning: O Allah, for You I fasted, in You I believe, upon You I rely, and with Your provision I break my fast.

Source note: This wording is very commonly recited in South Asia, but the reports used for this expanded wording are not as strong as the narration above. We include it because many people search for and learn it, while clearly distinguishing its hadith status.

When to Read the Iftar Dua

Break the fast when sunset has occurred. The supplication Dhahabaz-zama’u… describes the fast as having been broken, so it is naturally said after breaking the fast. You may also make personal dua around iftar and ask Allah for lawful needs.

It is Sunnah to hasten breaking the fast once sunset is confirmed rather than unnecessarily delaying iftar.
